With over a decade of professional experience as a creative, Cody is a multidisciplinary writer/director who edits. His skill set is rooted at the intersection of technology, advertising, and filmmaking. He is best known for his two-time award-winning debut indie feature film, Alt Space (2020).
Born in 1989 in Los Angeles and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area, Cody moved to New York City in 2011 to attend The School of Visual Arts for writing & directing. He enjoys dorkin’ around on his skateboard, playing baseball with friends, and cooking self-proclaimed “impress” dishes. Oh yeah, he also plays a variety of instruments and was in a touring band as a teenager.
As a storyteller, Cody mixes experimental techniques with thrilling and earnest performances to design wow moments for his audiences. His unconventional style incorporates dynamic character portrayals, subtle magical realism, and sometimes non-linear allegorical concepts. Demonstrating both light-hearted and serious themes, his narrative style approach brings life to thought-provoking and entertaining projects.
In addition to his work as a filmmaker, Cody directs branded content and music videos. This spans from his work as a creative at Apple, to making indie films that have premiered internationally, to editing and animating ads on Wall Street at Droga 5. His diverse perspective in film is complemented by a multidisciplinary background in the arts, from his teenage years as a touring musician to showing fine artwork in NYC galleries.
Cody channels this range of expression together in a playful and mindful way that creates a sense of synchronicity and self-awareness within each individual piece. As a deep thinker whose practice is highlighted by themes of psychology, philosophy, and technology, Cody approaches each project with a fresh and unique concept that is tailor-made to a given brief.
